Barbara Gay Rigney, Educational Ministries

Barbara Gay has been a vital part of the Rayne community ever since her arrival a few years ago. She directs the children's and youth choirs as well as the choir of children in the Rayne Early Childhood Program. Each year she directs an exceptional children's Christmas Pageant. Joel Bevington, Director of Music Ministry

Joel Bevington assumed the position of Director of Music Ministry at a critical time in the history of our city and church, committed to the mission of rebuilding and a ministry of hope. In May 2013 he graduated from Louisiana State University with a Master of Music in Choral Directing. Joel graduated in May 2007 from Emory University/Candler School of Theology with a Master of Music in Organ and where he served as the Cannon Chapel Organist and the Music Director. His bachelor of Music in Organ degree is from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where he also studied choral music and conducting. He is from Albany, Oregon, where his parents, both teachers and musicians, now live.

The Chancel Choir, under Joel’s direction, rehearses on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm and provides sacred music during the 11 am worship service on Sundays at at other special times. Kathy Pitre, Business Manager

Kathy brings her delightful smile and her attention to detail to manage the financial and accounting activities for the church. She has had much experience many other ministries before joining our Rayne staff. Feel free to contact Kathy if you have any questions.

Shaun Darnall, Administrative Assistant

Before coming to the Rayne staff, Shaun worked almost two years very closely with us as the Uptown Storm Station Administrative Assistant, a position in which she proved to be an enormous asset in the United Methodist Churches disaster recovery efforts. Carol Thiele, Afternoon Secretary

It will be the voice of Carol Thiele you will hear when you call on most afternoons each week. Carol is a creative web designer and newsletter editor with many years of experience in the church having served in a wide range of roles from teacher to writer to administrator to preacher’s spouse. Marcus Thompson, Building Maintenance Custodian

Marcus Thompson, Owner of Thompson Cleaning Service, serves as our part-time Building Maintenance Custodian. He brings to this position his vast array of handyman skills, his kind heart, his willing spirit, and his lifelong love of New Orleans, the city in which he was born and raised.
