School for Contemplative Living
Spiritual Director William Thiele
It began with a pastoral response to the need for post-Katrina counseling and the dream of an intentional growth center. Under the spiritual direction of William Thiele, it has evolved into The School for Contemplative Living. Blessed by the Annual Conference and sponsored by the Parker and Rayne Memorial United Methodist Churches, the school is supported by a growing number of partners and members and offers a wide variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and service deeply grounded and centered in prayer.

Tulane Wesley Foundation Campus
Minister Max Zehner
As a ministry and community of the United Methodist Church, founded on the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, the Wesley Foundation is committed to accepting all people in the context of God's grace. We exist to provide a supportive Christian environment where students can grow both spiritually and socially through worship, mission, and fellowship.
Homeless Hospitality
Co-sponsored with the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, this weekly program offers a meal, shelter, hygiene items, books, clothing, friendship, counseling, and prayer for homeless men and women seeking help. Rayne members support this program with an ongoing collection of hotel amenities and travel size hygiene items, socks, and t-shirts. Weekly meals are also prepared and served by church members from Rayne and congregations across the city.
Luke's House Free Clinic
Luke's House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization addressing the health and spiritual needs of New Orleans, Louisiana. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Luke's House works closely with church leaders and congregations from across the country to bring healing and compassion to the underserved community of New Orleans. Our Mission is to provide hope, help, and healing in response to the medical, mental, and spiritual health concerns of the post-Katrina New Orleans community.
Crescent City Cafe
The Crescent City Cafe is an independent, grassroots organization based in New Orleans that is led by a team of volunteers and supported by donations. The Cafe is supported by multiple churches in New Orleans, including our host facility, Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church, and ministry partner St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church.
The mission of the Crescent City Cafe is to serve breakfast to New Orleans’ homeless and low-income residents with dignity and to connect young adults together in service to our community. We desire to demonstrate the love of God through our actions and our words. Founded in February 2009, the cafe simulates a restaurant, complete with breakfast specials that change each month. The volunteer servers take orders from guests and run them back to the kitchen, where other volunteers are at the helm — cooking up the orders and plating the food. The cafe is hosted at Rayne Memorial United Methodist.
This program, directed by local pastor, Lisa Fitzpatrick, serves the needs of youth-at-risk in the City of New Orleans. APEX offers after-school activities, tutoring, music, art, mentoring, conflict resolution, community meals, and a Sunday night Bible study and worship service.
